Favorite Star Wars Moments of 2016

The year of 2016 brought a new hobby to life for me - Star Wars costuming clubs. If you've watched the video in my previous blog post, you probably saw quite a bit of familiar characters. To be quite honest, I had never even seen Star Wars until fall of 2015. None of my family members or friends were ever really into it so I had never really had the chance to sit down and watch it. After binge watching all 6 movies and anxiously waiting for the premiere of the 7th, I was hooked.

My boyfriend, Trey, began trooping (attending events) with the Rebel Legion and I tagged along as a handler to take photos and help others get into costume. I began shooting photos. After attending so many events, I fell in love with capturing the smiles that we put on people's faces and the reactions we get from both young and old.

This content is totally unique from anything I've ever done, and certainly presented a challenge. I love the documentary in-the-moment style of many of the photographs, and being a part of such an amazing organization has really been one of the best things to ever happen to me. In addition to just dressing up, we visit hospitals, raise money for charities, promote literacy at libraries, and much more! I have also met some of my closest friends by joining.

Now, as you can see from below, I have my very own costume (I'm on the right)! As much as I love taking photos, it's amazing to see the excitement from fans of all ages when they see you! I plan on working on many more costumes, but still taking some photos here and there.

So sit back and enjoy this gallery of my favorite photos and moments from 2016 troops.

These photos are very special to me, I hope you enjoyed looking through them! <3

R.I.P to our lovely member T.J. McIntire who we lost in 2016, he was the Vader in many of the photos you see above. R.I.P to Carrie Fischer and Debbie Reynolds as well.

May the Force be with you in 2017.
